MealSight (餐识) · Last updated: 10 July 2026
MealSight ("the app", "we", "us") is a meal-photo nutrition app. This policy
explains what data the app handles and how. We designed the app to collect as
little as possible. There are no user accounts, and we do not ask for your
name, email, or contact information.
1. Information the app handles
- Meal photos. When you take or choose a photo to analyze, the
image is sent to our processing backend and on to a third-party AI vision
provider to identify the food and estimate nutrition. The image is used only to
produce your result. Our backend does not store your photos; it forwards the
request and returns the result.
- A random device identifier. The app generates a random
per-installation identifier and a device-attestation key used solely to prevent
abuse and apply fair-use rate limits to the analysis service. It is not linked to
your identity and is not used for advertising or tracking.
- Health data (optional). If you grant permission, the app
writes the nutrition of meals you save (energy and macronutrients) to Apple
Health, and may read activity/body metrics to provide context. This data stays on
your device within Apple Health and is not transmitted to us.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe, the purchase is
processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only whether an entitlement
is active — we never receive your payment details.
- Your meal history. Saved meals, their photos, and analysis
results are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded
to our servers.
2. How we use it
Solely to provide the app's features: recognizing food from your photo,
estimating nutrition, letting you record meals, optionally syncing nutrition to
Apple Health, preventing abuse of the analysis service, and managing your
subscription entitlement. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
3. Third parties
- AI vision provider (MiniMax). Receives the meal image to
perform the analysis, under its own privacy terms.
- Cloudflare. Hosts the backend that relays analysis requests.
- Apple. Provides In-App Purchase (subscriptions) and HealthKit.
We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not sell your
data.
4. Data retention
Our backend does not retain your photos after a request completes. Data stored on
your device (meal history and photos) remains until you delete it in the app or
uninstall the app. Health data is retained by Apple Health under your control.
5. Your choices
- Delete individual meals in the app, or remove all app data by uninstalling.
- Manage or revoke Health permissions in the iOS Health app or Settings.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect
personal information from them.
7. Security
Requests are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The analysis
service uses device attestation to help ensure requests come from the genuine app.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected on this page with a
new "last updated" date.
